After the news he was selected to play in the Nature Valley First Tee Open, Parker Reddig from The First Tee of St. Paul was invited inside the ropes at the 3M Championship.
Reddig shares how the opportunity is helping him prepare for Pebble Beach and playing with Champions Tour players.
I recently had an unexpected and incredible experience at the Champions Tour – 3M Championship. What started out as a simple request for an interview about the First Tee Open at Pebble Beach turned into two days of once in a lifetime experiences.
Day one started with a stop at the media room where I was interviewed by one of our local newspapers about the upcoming Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. From there I was sent to the first tee where I had the pleasure to meet & talk with General Mills (Nature Valley) executive Jon Nudi. I had the chance to personally thank him for the opportunity at the upcoming Nature Valley First Tee Open. The pro in that group was Nick Price so I was able to meet him too. Also, on the tee box was Dave Marr from the Golf Channel. After meeting the group members I was given the opportunity to walk inside the ropes with them for 6 holes. During this time I watched, walked and talked golf with Nick Price. Mr. Price instantly made me feel very comfortable. He was so nice and gave me tips and advice about how to work on my current golf game struggles and how to prepare for the upcoming Pebble Beach experience. On the 5th tee box I even had the chance to share a piece of Brad Faxon’s birthday cake with Mr. Price. The cake was awesome!
The next day I came back ready for another amazing experience. Shortly after I arrived I was told I would be able to follow along, inside the ropes, with Nick Price, Jay Haas and Mark Wiebe. I had the chance to speak with them on the first tee box and had a picture taken with them, along with the other participant from The First Tee, Parker Hill.
I’ll never forget the moment they took that picture. After the picture the players teed off and I was able to see how quickly they could get into their game zone. Parker Hill and I followed behind the group for 4 holes.
Following along inside the ropes during the actual tournament really helped me get a feeling of what it will be like at the Nature Valley First Tee Open. From the cameras, to the crowds and the excitement of being in the event.
Thank you to the First Tee of Saint Paul, Mr. Nick Price, Mr. Jon Nudi and everyone at the 3M Championship that made those two days a once in a lifetime experience I’ll never forget. I’m counting down until my first tee shot at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. I’m looking forward to the experience!
