First generation college students at
California State University, Monterey Bay are making an impact by giving their time through a program called Pay It Forward. Through this program, the students are mentoring junior golfers at
The First Tee of Monterey County.
The mentors help with school work, are a freind to talk with and provide help with college preperation. Even better, an unintended result of the program is the junior golfers often reverse the roles providing their college mentor with golfing lessons.
One college mentor says, “I’m learning from her because she’s teaching me golf. It’s great because I learn from her, she learns from me, we’re both applying it. We both learn from each other.”

Golf Channel, the proud media partner of
The First Tee, recently featured this story during Golf Central. Click on the link below to find out more about this unique Pay if Forward program that is making such a difference!
