The First Tee Scholars Program Recognizes Junior Golfers Who Excel In Academics

College scholarships awarded to junior golfers
The First Tee Scholars Program has awarded more than $1 million in college scholarships
The First Tee encourages all-around excellence. Our character education and life skills programs help young people prepare for success both on and off the golf course. The First Tee Scholars Program in particular recognizes high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in academics, leadership skills, character development, and chapter and community involvement. Recently 102 junior golfers proved they have they have what it takes to succeed off the golf course and were recognized as The First Tee Scholars – Class of 2014.
“We are proud of Cody for being recognized and honored with the distinction of Class of 2014 Scholar of The First Tee….Our family will always be grateful for Cody’s involvement in The First Tee.  His life today is a testament to the power of the leadership and life skills and Nine Core Values learned and reinforced through The First Tee.” – Chrissie Lissner, parent.
With the designation of The First Tee Scholar, these 102 teens will have the opportunity to apply for educational scholarship programs offered through The First Tee to attend a participating college or university. More than 20 colleges and universities throughout the United States have partnered with The First Tee to offer merit-based or leadership scholarships that help to offset the cost of attending school. The First Tee Scholars Program was launched in 2003 after 16-year-old Steven Outlaw gave a speech during The First Tee Network Meeting and Dr. William Crouch, then president of Georgetown College, surprised the audience by spontaneously offering Outlaw a scholarship to his school. Since that time, The First Tee has designated 623 teens as The First Tee Scholars and has awarded 112 college scholarships worth more than $1 million dollars.
