Golf is affordable. And here are 6 reasons why:

Golf is affordable? Yes! It can be. At The First Tee, our hope is to make golf more accessible and affordable to you. Before you write golf out of your budget, consider our program for your children!

Here are 6 ways we make golf more affordable

1. Low Program Fees & Financial Aid

No child will ever be turned away due to an inability to pay.
To start, we aim to subsidize our programs so that parents pay a low cost. The average cost for a six to eight week session is $72, though it varies from chapter to chapter. Chapters also offer financial aid so that no child is turned away due to an inability to pay. Contact your chapter directly to learn more about their options.

2. Equipment

Before you add up the cost of golf clubs and special shoes, check to see what is available through the chapter. Most locations provide equipment to students during the program with no special attire required. Some even provided golf shirts to new students.

3. National Opportunities

Youth who advance through the program and stay as teenagers have the opportunity to apply for free national events through The First Tee home office. These prestigious events are free to the participants who are selected to attend and take place in various locations, even Pebble Beach! Participants have the opportunity to play golf, network with executives, meet other junior golfers and take part in leadership workshops.

4. playing Sponsorships

Did you know?: The median greens fee across America is only $38 for a round of public golf. Learn more at
Many chapters offer sponsorship opportunities to not only attend programs at The First Tee, but other golf programs like the PGA Junior League Golf, International Junior Golf Academy or the American Junior Golf Association. This gives participants the chance to learn golf skills, life values and play even more competitive golf at a lower cost.

5. Discounts at Golf Courses

Some chapters offer discounted rates to play public courses outside of regular programming. Talk to your local chapter to see if membership packages are available.

6. College Scholarships

Did you know there are hundreds of women’s college golf scholarships going unused each year? Investing in golf may pay off for youth in the long run – both through higher education scholarships and networking opportunities in future careers. Don’t just take our word, hear from these parents!

More Than a Game

There is more than one reason to give golf a try. At The First Tee, our trained coaches serve as mentors who empower youth to not only enhance their golf skills, but also learn life skills to set them up for success off the course.
